Reading

Grace is really into reading books, magazines or anything she can get her hands on right now. She got a hold of one of my gossip magazines this morning & was "reading" it. :)

Flowers For Nanny!

David has become obsessed with picking flowers, weeds & leaves for Nanny! He has only picked a flower for me once but he is all about picking flowers for Nanny. It started at one of his t-ball games. He picked a flower from the outfield & brought it to Nanny. Since that day, he has been picking Nanny flowers. :)

Today, as we were leaving the pool, he found a magnolia leaf on the ground. He picked it up & took it right to Nanny! He told her it was a flower for her & she should smell it because it smelled so good! lol

Being the sweet Nanny, she is, she put the leaf (aka flower) in a glass with water. It now sits on her counter in the kitchen where she told David, she can admire it while she cooks. Too sweet!

Pool Day!

Today was another day at the pool in Grandpa & Nanny's neighborhood. The guys went golfing this morning so they met us at the pool when they were finished. Nanny picked us up some Mellow Mushroom pizza & we hung out at the pool. We love going on Sundays because it opens at 12pm & it is quiet. We stayed today until 5pm & there were very few people there.

For dinner, Grandpa & Nanny made hamburgers & hot dogs. We rented Gnomeo & Juliet. We ate in the living room & watched the movie.

I forgot to take the camera to the pool but I did get a shot of the kids getting cleaned up before dinner.

Baby Run!

Grace & Justin participated in the Baby Run at the Montgomery Biscuits baseball game tonight. They got to go on the field! It was so cool!

Grace & two other kids had to race to the end of the mat to their parent.

Grace took off right away! She got to the checkered finish line & stopped! She stood in front of the finish line & clapped her hands! The crowd went crazy, which she loved!

She then turned around & ran back to the starting line! She turned around & ran full speed through the checkered line! The other babies had no clue what was happening & never left the starting line, making Grace the winner!!!

Yay Grace!!

Pool & Baseball: We Heart Summer!!

We spent most of the day at the pool in Nanny & Grandpa's neighborhood. The water is starting to warm up so it feeling really nice. We packed a picnic lunch & had a blast hanging out!
Fun in the sun!

We then went to a Montgomery Biscuits baseball game. The Biscuits lost but we all had a blast! Our section was selected to play a game where we passed a very large bottle of syrup to each other. We raced another section. Our section won the race so we won mini syrup bottles. Grace & Justin were selected to participate in a baby run race on the field (see next post).

Yummy Corndog!

Yummy Cotton Candy!

David almost made it through the game!
He did manage to wake up so he could watch the fireworks!

Montgomery Zoo Day!

We had a wonderful day! We met some friends at the Montgomery Zoo this morning. My Mom was also able to join us which added to the fun! :) The kids & I had such a blast. The zoo in Montgomery is really nice. We were there shortly after they opened so it wasn't crowded. School just got out here so I was a little worried about the crowds. Luckily, it didn't start to get busy until we were leaving around 1:30pm. Nice! :)
Ready for some zoo fun!
Feeding Giraffes!

David & Maggie loved the baby giraffe!
So cute!

Riding the train!

Picnic at the zoo playground!

This is what tired looks like after a fun filled day at the zoo! :)

Grandpa took us to the usual date night spot, Sommer's Place. On Friday nights they have a special where you can get a fillet & lobster tail & it is so yummy! Dad & Mom eat at Sommer's Place every Friday night. It was a big treat to be able to join them today! :)
After dinner, we let the kids play & run around in the alley behind Dad & Mom's house. David is getting so good riding his tricycle! He is getting faster every time he rides. So fun!
As a special treat for Memorial Day weekend, I made a Raspberry Cheesecake Trifle. It was my first time making a trifle. I think it turned out pretty tasty! It's not so bad to look at either! :)

Raspberry Cheesecake Trifle
**This recipe came from the Taste of Homes Cake Mix Creations cookbook. This book is very quickly becoming my favorite dessert cookbook! This is the forth recipe I have made from the cookbook & they all have been out of this world!!**

1 pkg (9oz) white cake mix
1 pkg (8oz) cream ceese, softened
1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1-1/2 cupsheavy whipping cream, whipped
4 cups fresh raspberries
2 spuares (1oz each) semisweet chocolate, shaved or coarsely grated

Prepare & bake cake according to package directions. Cool; cut into 3/4-in.cubes. In a small bowl, beat cream cheese & confectioners' sugar until smooth. Fold in whipped cream.

In a trifle bowl, layer half of the cake cubes, 1-1/2 cups of raspberries, half of the cream cheese mixture & half of the chocolate. Repeat layers. Top with the remaining raspberries. Refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.

Yield: 12-14 servings

17 Scarves!

I finished the red & white scarf a couple weeks ago. I have slowing been working on the orange & blue scarf. I know, I know, not the prettiest of colors, but I'm trying to use colors I think will sell better at the craft show. People around here are nuts over Alabama & Auburn, so I decided to use up those colors first. Hopefully they will sell! :)

It may be a while before I make another scarf for the church craft show. I found a really cute scarf pattern in a book & I am attempting to make one for Grace. I'll let you know how it turns out (hopefully good). I'm not going to work on any other projects until I finish this one for Grace. :)

Saying Goodbye

Mom, Papa & Nana all came up this afternoon. Papa & Nana are leaving in the morning to fly back to WI. They got hotel rooms at the Hilton in Trussville. They have an indoor swimming pool so once the kids woke up from their naps, we all headed to the hotel. Justin met us there after work. We hung out at the pool & had dinner.

The last two weeks have flown by. Usually, Papa & Nana are here for a couple months so we have lots of time together. The last two weeks have just gone by too fast. The kids have had so much fun with them & I'm sure I will have a lot of explaining to do once, they realize Papa & Nana are no longer at Nanny's house.

We all really enjoyed their visit & look forward to seeing them again soon!

Finger Painting

The kids & I found some wooden face masks at a local craft store for $1 each. I let each of the kids pick out their own mask (there were several designs). Today, we got out the finger paints & had some fun on the back deck.

Bake them with love...

Usually the first thing out of David's mouth when he gets up from his afternoon nap is, "Mommy, I want a snack." Today, like everyday, I asked him what he wanted. His response today was chocolate chip cookies. My response was okay, no problem!

As I was making my son chocolate chip cookies, I thought about my Christmas present from my Mom in 2007. She gave me a cookbook. It was Better Homes & Gardens Biggest Book of Cookies cookbook. Inside the first page of the cookbook my Mom wrote me a very sweet note.

"This year in 2008 you have accepted the responsibility of raising your first child and our first grandchild. With this responsibility comes one more - a full cookie jar!! Bake them with love"

As I was standing in my kitchen baking my kids cookies & filling my cookie jar, I got a grin on my face. This is a responsibility, like my children, I treasure! I am so thankful to my husband for allowing me to stay home with my kids. I get to fill my cookie jar for them!

Moody Hurricane's Team Party

The kids & I drove home today. David had his team party at Pump It Up.

The coach & his wife put together a really nice party for the kids. The kids were able to play in two different rooms, there was pizza, a cake & ice cream. The coach gave each of the kids a trophy with a baseball from one of the team games. We were very lucky to have gotten such a great coach for David. Mike was so patient with the kids & worked so hard to make the season special for the kids & the parents!

Yes, that's both of my kids climbing the tallest slide!

David sliding!

Grace sliding! The girl has NO fear! She would climb (by herself) up the tall slide, then slide down (by herself)! She would get off the slide & clap! haha
